When Nathalie arrived at the estate in November 1999, she admits, with a smile, that she "knew nothing about vines." She quickly learnt her trade from others thanks to the wonderful team spirit which exists. Vines are no longer a mystery for her. "Thanks to my job, I now realise all the work that goes into winemaking before it is even put in the bottle. I've grown to love working on vines, something which requires a lot of character and determination."
When he arrived in search of work in December 2012 from Portugal where his family still live, Fernando happened to knock at the door of Vrai Caillou by chance and he ended up staying. With no knowledge of vines or wine and despite the language barrier, Fernando quickly integrated and got down to the job at hand. His job involves vine pulling, disbudding and lifting.
Part of the Vrai Caillou family since 2017, Owen is a native of England. His first job was a brewer. Today, he cares of vines, he works alongside Philippe de Meillac to adjust the wine.
Having grown up on the family estate, Christel de Meillac, along with her husband, looks after the financial side of things at Château Vrai Caillou. This is an essential role and one which she combines with all the organisation around a friendly welcome to the estate. In a family atmosphere and with her warm and hospitable nature, visitors to the estate have the opportunity to see the heart and soul of wine production. Communication and creation are her strengths.
Along with his wife, Christel, Philippe de Meillac owns the Vrai Caillou estate. He took over the reins of the property in 2012. Born in Martinique and the son of a farmer, he discovered the vineyards of Vrai Caillou in 1995, working alongside his father-in-law and so developed his passion for winegrowing. From the vineyard to the storehouse, from harvesting to blending and from team organisation to sales, Philippe is always there to check every little detail "like all good winegrowers who are passionate about their job!"
Result of redundancy, after 22 years in the same wine property, I have had opportunity to work with Vrai Caillou team in april 2017. I am a secretary. Thanks to my experience, I have found my place on this family estate. Today, I grow to appreciate the export market.
Nathalie joined the team 3 years ago. She carries out all work on the vines such as pulling and tying. She 's also driving the tractor. Her job is physical but she enjoys the friendly atmosphere at Château Vrai Caillou.
